Ms. Rebecca Chen

Instructor and Founder

Coming from a family of teachers, Rebecca Chen grew to value culture and education from a young age. After she and her family emigrated from Taiwan to the United States as a teenager, Rebecca went on to study Studio Art at the University of Maryland at College Park, and was drawn particularly to the raw, emotive expression of Jackson Pollock and Van Gogh. After graduation, Rebecca began teaching art to young people, developing broad and varied lessons in response to her students’ needs.

Continuing to hone her craft, Rebecca was awarded a Master’s Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University. As a teacher, she combines trained academic pedagogy with two decades of hands-on experience teaching and mentoring, pushing her students to grow while also fostering a relationship of trust and support.

Mr. Corey Peters

Instructor and Founder

Corey Peters grew up in La Cañada, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Inspired by his grandmother, also a painter, from a young age Corey saw the possibility of life as a working artist. Continuing to paint and draw throughout childhood, he later entered the Art Center College of Design, where he pursued a staggering array of different styles and mediums.

In the last decade, Corey embraced landscape painting, working in the open air in the great mountains and beaches across the United States. Dedicated to constant study, he takes inspiration from both the art and tireless work ethic of Edgar Payne and Aldro Hibbard. As a teacher, Corey challenges his students to make work with intention, develop their craft, themselves, while emphasizing the broad application of creative critical thinking and problem-solving to every aspect of daily life.
